Chamber committees are comprised of volunteer members who are continuously working to improve the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and shape its future. Through committee involvement, members have the opportunity to effect change in areas specific to their business, and to make important business contacts. Involvement in a Chamber committee advances everyone’s prosperity!
The Ambassador Committee is the life blood of the Chamber. The mission of this committee is an outreach and retention initiative to recruit new Chamber members and retain current Chamber members. This responsibility encompasses many activities and the members of this committee participate in the majority of the Chamber ceremonial functions, such as; ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and grand openings. The Ambassadors act as mentors for new members throughout the first year of Chamber membership.
The Business EXPO and TASTE Fest is an annual business expo and food tasting event held the first Saturday of November at Walled Lake Central High School. The general public enjoys delicious food samples catered by member restaurants while having the opportunity to check out products and services provided by business exhibitors. Workshops, children's activities, hourly prize drawings and contests are also part of this highly popular and entertaining event which draws residents from all over the lakes area.
The By-Laws/Nominating Committee provides nominations for Board of Director and officers open board seats. The Committee also conducts an annual review of the LACC By-Laws.
Develops and implements special events that best serve our communities. This committee develops, coordinates and implements special Chamber activities which will promote and increase community participation/involvement. The activities are designed to develop and enrich the relationship between the Chamber and the general public, as well as engaging in fun.
An enjoyable social event providing an opportunity for members and the community to have fun and network. Plans begin in January for a spring outing held at a member golf course.
This committee considers, reviews and acts on local, state and national issues that directly affect the Lakes Area community. It also strives to inform chamber members of these issues and increase overall awareness.
This family oriented summer celebration with a "Made in Michigan" theme has something for everyone to enjoy. Live musical entertainment, food, beverage, crafts, old time games, prize drawings, face painting, balloons, bike safety, archery instruction, and more! Members, non-members and
the community at large are all involved in this event.
The Programs Committee develops and produces events designed with Chamber members in mind. Such events include semi-annual membership breakfasts/luncheons, networking & educational programs. Projects to date include timely roundtable discussions such as Small/Home-based Business Roundtable and the annual Holiday Mixer. This committee also works to coordinate scheduling of various committee events throughout the year.
